Jamie Mcleod is a photographer/artist who captures a multi range of subjects not simply as a voyeur but as a participant.

Through photographing others he is photographing aspects of himself. His images are personal documents of his obsessions and fantasies from his immediate social circles of family and friends or subcultures he has been introduced into. These could be anything from transsexuals and their boyfriends in Istanbul, wrestlers in Mexico City, club kids in Barcelona or death cults of America.

He has made a comprehensive photographic journal of these subjects and made an impressive body of work which includes a lengthy and anthropological study of Turkish oil wrestlers and a left-field series of portraits of alternative couples.

He has worked extensively with the performer Marc Almond and rejuvenated the faces of other pop luminaries. The best thing is that he has captured and rendered the so called “underground trash”, the “nobodies”, the “losers” with the same loving touch that he would capture the “stars” with, regardless of their status.
