TRANSFABULOUS FESTIVAL 08
June 13th - 15th
Trans Lives: Presenting the (Extra) Ordinary
‘Trans Lives’ is an exhibition of photographs by trans people which explores their gender identities. The photographs have been taken by the exhibitors over the period of a week as they respond to their immediate environment and reflect on their personal experiences. The pictures show that while the participants all identify as trans they are also individuals leading rich and varied lives.
The exhibition marks the first stage of an Arts and Humanities Research Council Fellowship project by Sara Davidmann. Artist Simon Croft and Sara Davidmann are co-curators of the exhibition.
Don't miss - 12:15 Sunday - Gallery Talk with Sara and Simon
Also - cartoons and comix by Jason Barker in the basement gallery
Transfabulous goes interactive! - But we need YOU to make it happen! Email us your photo of you and your “& me” in the next days and before Transfabulous Festival weekend. It could be your partner, friend, cat, teddy bear, pot plant or any other “& me” in your life. We’ll print out the pictures and collage them all into a big wall piece that will be on display at this year’s Transfabulous festival.
Please write ‘& me’ in the subject box and email to: info@transfabulous.co.uk
Prefer to send your picture by post? You can send hard copies before the festival to: Transfabulous Arts Festival c/o Oxford House Derbyshire Street Bethnal Green London E2 6HG
(Important – we cannot guarantee return of the photos, so please don’t send precious prints that you can’t replace) Or bring them during the festival – the piece will continue to grow over the whole weekend! We will be awarding a prize for the funniest picture and the most inventive picture! The judging will take place on Sunday 15th June. We can’t wait to see your pictures, so don’t wait – send us one now!
